Daniel God is my judge

The first half of this book tells the story of Daniel’s life as a young Jewish captive who, through a series of extraordinary events, rises to a position of great authority in the Babylonian government. God gave Daniel the ability to interpret the king’s dreams and protected him from multiple threats to his life.

In the second half of the book, Daniel wrote about his own dreams and visions. This is called apocalyptic literature because of its extensive use of symbols to foretell future events. While some of the symbols are explained quite clearly within the vision (such as, horns are kings), many of them remain a mystery. Daniel admitted that he did not understand what he saw. He only knew that God had sealed these mysteries until some time in the future. Yet Daniel was very clear about one thing— God is sovereign over all the nations of the world. Even nations who do not acknowledge Him as God are used by God to accomplish very specific purposes.
