Ezekiel God strengthens

While Jeremiah was in Jerusalem warning the Jews that the city would soon be destroyed, Ezekiel was one of the exiles far away in Babylon. Ezekiel was the son of a Levitical priest. Many of his prophecies predicted the destruction of Jerusalem. But the exiles ignored him until word came that Jerusalem had indeed been burned by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. This event marked a change in Ezekiel’s prophecies. Instead of warning the people to repent of their sins, he began to tell them how the Lord would surely send the exiles home one day. Jerusalem will be rebuilt, their enemies will be severely punished, and the Lord will take the Jews back as His chosen people. Ezekiel made it clear that the Lord was doing this for the sake of His own name. He would no longer allow His holy name to be profaned. Everyone will know that He is the Lord.
