Zechariah God has remembered

To Judah. Zechariah addressed the deeper theological issues behind the effort to rebuild the Temple. Chapters 1 to 8 are a series of visions with apocalyptic imagery similar to that of Ezekiel and Daniel. Horses, horns, craftsmen, lampstands, scrolls, and chariots described future events related to divine punishment and redemption.

Chapters 9 to 14 are two oracles with references to Jesus’ earthly ministry and Second Coming. Zechariah wrote about God’s Shepherd, the Messiah, riding on a donkey, betrayed for 30 pieces of silver, pierced by enemies, standing on the Mount of Olives, splitting it in two, and ruling as the King of the world. Jerusalem will be at peace forever.
